Whale Watching Daily Diary – December 28th 2025

By Marine Guide ·

What a challenging day!

Today, Reykjavik woke up covered in fog and that fine rain that ends up getting us completely wet.

Despite these conditions, the sea was very calm. We had two trips today, but we were unlucky on the first one in the morning. After trying our best and sailing around every corner of the bay, we couldn’t spot any cetaceans. Only our loyal seabirds and the occasional seal.

During the second tour, we were luckier and happened to find a very friendly group of harbor porpoises. In total, there were about 12 individuals.

And then, just as we were about to end the trip and head back to port, we were surprised by the two humpback whales we had always seen. We don’t know where they were hiding during the morning, but we do know that they had us worried. However, after many hours, rain, and patience, we found them!

Thank you whales for still stay close to our coasts!
