Daily diary – April 17 2025

Still windy conditions today in Reykjavik, but sunny!

We headed out this morning. The conditions were still good, although the wind picked up throughout the day. After about an hour at sea, we started to see porpoises swimming around the boat — it was great. Then, we noticed lots of birds diving into the water, which meant there were fish nearby. We followed their direction and ended up in the middle of the action: a humpback whale showed us its tail several times, and even did a tail slap at one point!

The afternoon was a bit more challenging, but we still saw some white-beaked dolphins, followed by many porpoises and three minke whales!

So, overall, a great day. But the next few days are looking incredible — the ocean will be like a lake, no waves, perfect conditions. You have to come!
