Daily diary – April 23 2025

This morning, after an hour of searching, we were gifted with a beautiful encounter with a humpback whale! We first saw it blow and then go for a dive… but the next time it surfaced it did about 20 peduncle throws and lobtail slaps in a row!!! It was amazing to see. For the rest of the tour it was swimming around the bay, and we could spot 2-3 minke whales around us feeding too! The cool thing about this humpback whale is that we can recognise it as an individual that has visited our bay for the last 2-3 years!

In the afternoon the weather was the same and it was very nice to have so calm ocean. Everything was quite slow and it looked like there would be little action. Then out of nowhere we spotted a humpback whale on our right hand side. We waited for 40 minutes after him to emerge again from the water but nothing happened. So we continue to sail and little later we stumbled upon a small pod of white beaked dolphins and then out of nowhere the humpback whale showed up again, that was probably one hour after we saw him first. After that we saw him couple of times as well as some minke whale. Most people saw all of the three species, so i would considere this a very good tour.
