Daily diary – August 22 2025

Our whales were pretty far in the bay today. After a long start, we finally came across a pod of white-beaked dolphins. They were curious and playful, swimming right up to the boat and sticking around for a bit – definitely lifted everyone’s spirits.

Not long after, we spotted some minke whales feeding in the same area. We spent a good while with them before seeing some distant blows on the horizon and decided to check them out. Turned out there was a humpback whale in the area that showed us his beautiful, almost completely white fluke.

Our afternoon began a bit differently than expected—the speedboat tour had to be called off due to rough sea conditions and high waves. Luckily, we were still able to head out later in the day aboard the Amelia Rose for what turned out to be a slow start, but a rewarding finish.
