Daily diary – August 31 2025

Today conditions were not easy. We had bright sunshine, but the north wind brought very cool temperatures to Iceland. The waves made our search difficult, but we were able to observe several harbour porpoises, which surprised us because they are very small and sometimes difficult to spot. We also observed several minke whales and a group of white-beaked dolphins near the boat. In the afternoon, the wind picked up a little, but that didn’t stop us from seeing more harbour porpoises, minke whales and a group of humpback whales (three together and three others a little further apart). The latter were quite far out in the bay, so we had a long journey back. With these wonderful sightings, we end the month of August. Let’s hope that September will be just as successful.
