Daily Diary – August 6 2024

We started our first tour under glorious sunshine and blue sky, with very few waves, in short nothing but good conditions for whale watching. We soon came across large groups of birds hunting on the surface of the water. The birds, especially the Arctic Terns, can be very good indicators for finding whales, in fact a humpback whale was also feeding. This was only the first of our expedition, in total we saw 4 different Humpback Whales, one of which was accompanied by a group of 7 White Beaked Dolphins.

Our 13.15 tour was accompanied by Humpback Whales, at least 6 different ones for most of the way, we didn’t know where to look as there were so many around us. a group of white beaked dolphins also joined our safari for a few minutes before continuing on their way. An amazing day!
