Daily Diary – August 8 2024

Today we had a spectacular day for our expeditions, with exceptional weather: no wind, a completely flat sea, and clear skies throughout the trip. All around us, hundreds of puffins were energetically moving about, preparing for their imminent departure.

As for marine life, it was an incredible day! We encountered two humpback whales, and one was surprisingly close to the harbor. Both were extremely active, breaching the water with great force. One of them even treated us to an impressive pectoral slap, a characteristic behavior where the whale strikes the water’s surface with its pectoral fins, possibly as a form of communication or simply to show off its energy and vitality.

The combination of a calm sea, good weather, and these amazing natural spectacles made today truly unforgettable. A perfect day to be on the water!
