Daily diary – December 16 2024

We had beautifully calm seas this afternoon, and the sun kept giving us beautiful clouds and colours as we headed out. As we approached the islands, we could soon see a blow. As we got closer, it wasn’t just one humpback, but two!! We carefully followed them as they swam closer to the island, and as we got closer in, we could see even more blows. There was another individual swimming around and feeding. Unfortunately, a little bit further away was a humpback whale in distress. It had been entangled and the coastguard came out to help out. We carried on watching these 3 other humpback whales. Eventually they all got brave enough and swam right under the boat!
