Here in Iceland, the 23rd of December celebrates the last day before the Christmas holidays, St Thorlak’s Day! We set sail out to the bay, with the sea a beautiful turquoise colour, and the southerly winds behind us. On our way over to the islands, we saw so many pods of harbour porpoises and so many grey and harbour seals! This continued throughout the tour! Some of the porpoises even swam across the bow several times! We then found the pair of humpback whales swimming around, fairly close to us! We then saw the individual one in front of us. It was still feeding. Lots of birds came into the area and we had all 3 whales swimming near the boat! What a great way to start the Christmas celebrations.
