Daily diary – February 23 2025

With a bit of wind, and a bit of waves, we headed out to Hafnarfjodur! It was a lot more sheltered once we reached our destination and as we got closer we could see 2 blows from humpback whales! They were swimming right inside of the harbour walls! They were lunge feeding, rolling and showing us their rorqual pleats. As we were leaving, they swam right under the bow and we got to witness their beauty up close!
The afternoon waves had calmed down a lot and as we got to Hafnarfjodur, we only found 1 humpback whale. It appears that the other one had gone away again, similar to what it has been doing on previous days. We still got to enjoy this humpback whale as it swam and we got to see it lift its fluke several times out of the water.
