Daily diary – July 18 2025

After the eruption on the 16th of July the volcanic ash settled above our bay, making the surrounding as from a horror movie. The sea was absolutely flat and smooth, so all in all it was a fantastic day for whale watching.

Our whales still seem to remain further from the bay. In the morning, we found a pod of friendly dolphins. Not so long afterwards, we found two grown up male humpbacks lunge feeding. Active whales is what we like the most – frequent surfacing, jumps and a lot of tails. Every now and then we saw many minke whales, also actively feeding.

Both afternoon tours were equally amazing – we spotted 4 humpbacks, pod of white-beaked dolphins and minke whales.
