Daily diary – July 8 2025

The weather conditions were not favourable today – the wind was blowing in our faces, waves stayed around 0.8m high and visibility was poor.

We spent quite some time finding whales during all of the trips, but patience pays off. We spent the morning in the company of a huge female Humpback along with her young! The calf was so curious about the boat and us, surfaced many times to see who it was dealing with. They both circled back and forth around our boat – and we admired the show with big smiles on our faces.

The afternoon looked pretty similar in terms of weather and exploration. Along the way, however, we encountered many Minke Whales, one surfaced just 10 meters from our boat! We were then inundated by a wave of Humpbacks, we saw as many as 7 individuals in the same area. Two of them breached out of the water, one graced us with flipper splashes, we also saw many flukes.

As you can see, even in the worse weather, whale watching makes sense!
