Daily diary – July 9 2024

A fairly quiet day, but rich in biodiversity. Conditions were favorable, with little wind or waves. However, in the morning the fog was present, but then left and gave way to cloudy weather.
We were lucky enough to observe a humpback whale sleeping peacefully all morning not far from the coast. We saw its tail, also known as fluke, many times.
In the afternoon, the humpback whale was nowhere to be found, so we had to go further out. We were lucky enough to observe a Minke whale that was clearly visible and close to the boat. We then went on to try and find something else, but without success. Still, we were pleased with the day.

The weather forecast for the next few days will be more mixed, but we’ll have to wait and see, as Iceland can be full of surprises.
