Whale breaching the water. Fun facts about whales

The start of the day promised to be fantastic – the sea was completely calm, with a slightly noticeable breeze.

It started with a brief encounter with a minke whale, immediately afterwards we saw a jumping humpback whale almost a kilometre away. The decision was made straight away – let´s get closer! In that area we could admire as many as two humpbacks so it paid off. At the end of the trip, we also met a pod of white-beaked dolphins.

We started the afternoon again with a minke whale, followed by a quick splash from a harbour porpoise, and then a new summer breaching record from a humpback whale! This individual gave jump after jump, with no respite! Some counted over 55 jumps – what a show it was. On the way back we saw three more humpbacks, this time calmer, but nevertheless just as majestic.
