Daily diary – May 16 2025

What a glorious day it has been! The sun has been shining down on us all day, warming our faces as we headed out into the very calm bay!
For our morning tour, we headed out and about half way through our journey we came across a pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins! They were swimming close to the boat and showing us their beautiful markings. Then we headed on a bit further and came across a minke whale! This one was quite big and was probably about 12 metres long! After having this minke whale swim really close to us, we had even more dolphins! They were breaching and jumping and having fun! We then went further and saw a humpback whale ahead, so we went to check it out before needing to head back home.

The sea continued to be nice and calm for the afternoon, this time we had to travel a little bit further out before we saw anything but we were soon rewarded. We came across a small minke whale that we saw a few times before finding the same humpback from the morning. Just as we watched the humpback swim a few times, a pod of white-beaked dolphins appeared jumping around us!
