Daily diary – May 22 2025

After enjoying the sunshine for a week, it was back to a windy day at sea. The waves were a bit choppy on the way out and the clouds were covering the sky. Once we reached Hvalfjodur, we were greeted by a tail-slapping humpback whale! This individual had so much energy and after swimming around the boats for a little bit… it breached!! Three times! The first time, we had a full body spinning breach, then it did another full body breach, followed by a chin slap! It was incredible to see. After that, it swam on its back as it did pectoral slaps and rolling, and it even came right next to the boat so that we could look into its eyes! What an amazing tour despite the weather!
