Daily Diary – May 28 2024

Today was an incredible day. The weather was cloudy but there was no wind. The water was like a mirror, perfect conditions for whale watching. Not far off the coast, in a flat calm, lots of White-beaked dolphins started to appear. They swam around the boat. Then we heard a huge blow, a sign that a whale was in the area. When we turned to look in the direction of the noise, Humpback whale appeared and showed us its fluke (tail). We hadn’t seen a Humpback whale for almost 2 weeks. What a surprise to see one today, a good omen for the future!

It was also extremely easy to spot Minke whales as they were all around us.

The afternoon brought more of the same, a grandiose spectacle of nature here in Iceland.
