Daily diary – May 3 2025

Sunny day, very little wind and the sea conditions were fantastic even though there was some traces left of the swell. Again this morning we went straight into the Whalefjord-Hvalfjörð and no we didnt even go into it because we found a humpback whale in the opening of the fjord, it didnt show its tail but it didn´t stay long in the water so we could see it quite well. We could see the humpback whale so clearly as it swam right next to the boat! It was so cool to see!

The afternoon tour was a little bit different we first didn´t think we would see anything, as the whale was no longer where it was in the morning. So we headed on deeper into Hvalförð! Along the way there were so many harbour porpoises – they were jumping out of the water (or as we like to say ´porpoising´). After a very long sail into the fjord, we finally came across two humpback whales, and a third one in the distance. We could even see harbour seals hauled out on the rocks! We then headed back towards the harbour and heard that there was another humpback whale. Just before we also saw some more harbour porpoises, but then out of nowhere, the humpback whale decided to breach! It was a fourth humpback whale!!
