Daily diary – October 11 2024

Today we woke up to freezing temperatures and all wrapped up warm on the boat. The cold wind was against us on the way out, but this didn´t stop us from enjoying a great tour. We enjoyed the snowy mountains all around us and after an hour we spotted a blow from a minke whale. We got to see it surface quite a few times before headed out to where Harpa had found a pair of humpback whales. We spent some time enjoying their short, shallow dives before we all got to see their fluke lift out of the water. What a great morning.

The weather had calmed down for the afternoon, and actually felt a lot warmer at only 1 degree Celsius. We headed straight to where we knew the humpback whales were and were gifted with a third humpback whale. Although we only saw it dive once, it was so great to see!!! We spent some more time with the pair of humpback whales and then headed off further into the bay. We then came across a pod of white-beaked dolphins, who were coming up to the boat and bow-riding. Just as it was time for us to leave, the pod of dolphins also left too.
