Daily diary – October 21 2024

With the rain in our face and the wind running through our hair, we headed out into the bay. It was a very cloudy day so we couldn’t enjoy the mountains around us. After a long time of searching, we finally saw some splashes from a pod of white-beaked dolphins! They were having lots of fun and swimming around the boat, jumping and crashing into the waves! It was great! As we continued on, we soon enough met another pod of dolphins. They weren’t as keen as the first pod but still had lots of fun around the boat.

The poor weather conditions continued into the afternoon, but after 40 minutes of searching, we saw the body of a minke whale ahead! As we approached, we thought we lost it but turned out it was also surrounded by a large pod of harbour porpoises! We stayed with them for 15 minutes and enjoyed this rare encounter of harbour porpoises swimming up to the boat and staying with us! It was incredible. We carried on and were met by white-beaked dolphins that kept swimming around us! It was a great tour!
