Daily diary – September 10 2025

We headed out today with a beautiful weather and calm seas – a pleasant change after the recent windy days when we had to cancel whale watching tours.
It didn´t take us long, because just in the area of Gróttuviti Lighthouse, we found our first whales – a small pod of harbour porpoises surfaced right in front of our boat!
A bit further ahead, two big blows were spotted but on our way to see these humpbacks, we saw a minke whale. This one was quite curious as for this species, so we got a chance to see it popping up very close to us. Later, we continued towards the two big blows, just to encounter a very relaxed couple of grown-up humpback whales. They didn´t show us their tail but luckily, we found other two individuals that were more active and we could admire their beautiful flukes.
The second half of the day was more challenging, as the wind got stronger. We managed to have a close encounter with white-beaked dolphins though! They were swimming from the left to the right under our boat, making us reach our goal of steps for today. Later on, we entered the area of 5 humpbacks that -even though were a bit shy – showed us their tails couple of times.
All in all, we managed to see all of the species today, so we call it a success!
