Daily diary – September 20 2025

Another beautiful day on Faxaflói bay. The very morning was pretty rough but later the wind went away, leaving us with calm seas and great visibility.
Most of the whales were pretty far out today but all in all, we spotted all four of the species! We started with a shy pod of 5 harbour porpoises but since they didn´t feel like interacting, we headed farther north-west. It didn´t take us long to find much more playful and active pod of white-beaked dolphins! Later, a small blow was spotted on the horizon – turned out to be a minke whale. Presumably being too busy with looking for food, it didn´t mind surfacing 15 meters from our boat. We finished all of our tours with humpbacks – in the morning we approached a young individual that never showed us the tail, the afternoon however was a delight for all photographers aboard, as the other and bigger individual was very proud of it´s beautiful fluke.
