Daily diary – September 27 2024

This morning, the clouds were covering the sky, and with the perfectly flat seas, we were sailing into a white canvas where sighting conditions would be perfect! As we sailed past the islands, a small pod of harbour porpoises appeared and were jumping out of the water. We then reached the active part of the bay, and found a pod of about 15 white-beaked dolphins, which came to bow-ride and show off for our guests. Soon enough, we were surrounded by minke whales, some big and some small. If the tour wasn’t already good enough, we then found a sleepy humpback whale, who showed us its fluke a few times! We then headed back home, all very happy!

The skied cleared up a little bit for the afternoon tour, and we still had our beautifully calm seas. Everyone was enjoying the beautiful weather and we were soon gifted with lots and lots of minke whales in every direction. We heard news that there were a pair of humpback whales further out, so we continued sailing and soon enough found them both. These two were also rather sleepy, and took a few surfaces before taking a shallow dive. On our way back to the harbour, a minke whale popped up right next to the boat and we got to see it surface a few times before saying goodbye.
