Sunset: 16:50 UTC
Kp : 4/9
Moon status: 87% illuminated
Forecast: Strong aurora activity, partially clouded skies forecasted in the area, so tonight’s tour is on schedule and looking great!
Comment: It may sound a bit petty, but after that night we learned one thing – not to lose hope!
The night looked perfect, the initially cloudy sky quickly turned into a starry canvas, but the Aurora refused to show itself. It was only after 11 p.m., right by the harbour gate, that we saw a very delicate arc above the mountain. We decided to wait and give it a chance – it paid off. In the blink of an eye, the ordinary strip turned into an explosion of colours: green, yellow, burgundy. The Aurora danced above Mt. Esja, leaving us all in awe. The show lasted a moment, then turned back into a delicate streak in the sky. We finished a little later than planned today, but with huge smiles on our faces.
