Whale Watching Daily Diary – 27th June 2026

Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; minke whale fin in sunlight in calm water near reykjavik Iceland

Morning Tour

Today it felt as if the summer forgot about Iceland for a while – rough seas, rain, fog, wind – ultimate Icelandic experience. Luckily, the whales didn’t disappoint! Just around 8 miles from the shore, we encountered an area with dozens of actively diving northern gannets. And, as expected, two minke whales popped out of the water. Actively hunting, they weren’t interested in our boat, but we did see their pointy dorsal fins a couple of times. Later on, we spotted a tall blow in the distance. A beautiful humpback, with an almost completely black fluke, was swimming around our boats.

Afternoon Tour

The weather conditions remained the same in the afternoon; luckily, you could feel the adventure spirit of all our passengers. The sightings were surprisingly the same as in the morning – a hunting minke surrounded by gannets, fulmars and puffins, a peaceful, black-tailed humpback further out in the bay!
