Whale Watching Daily Diary – December 12th 2025

After cancelling the tour yesterday because of the high winds we were very keen to get back on the water to find our whales again!

The morning had been very windy and rainy but luckily it eased up enough for us to be able to take the boat out and start looking for whales! Without the knowledge of the day before it was trickier to find them than normal, but it wasn´t long before we found a small pod of harbour porpoises. They tend to be very shy so we didn´t stay with them long before we carried on our search.

Out of nowhere we saw a dolphin fin cutting through the water not far from us, so we stopped the boat and waited. Very shortly we had a whole pod surrounding us, including at least 3 mothers and calves! We think in total the pod was about 20 individuals.

When the dolphins zoomed off we didn´t follow them but instead carried on our search for big whales and we were successful! We found two humpback whales and they showed us their tails multiple times which was wonderful to see. They came nice and close to us so everyone got great photos!
