Whale Watching Daily Diary – December 19th 2025

There was a brisk wind on the ocean today as we headed out of Reykjavik old harbour to look for whales. The clouds were heavy in the sky, looking like it might snow later. We set off out into the open water first, where we have been seeing the white beaked dolphins lately but no luck.

Next we turned east and into the islands and that is where we found the humpback whales today. As always we approached them very slowly, and stopped about 150m away, allowing them to come to us if they wanted to. They did! Hurrah!

They came right up to the ship and dived around it letting us see their iconic tails. It was brutally cold with the wind but definitely worth going out to see that!

A great day on the water for all!
