Whale Watching Daily Diary – February 11th 2026
Morning Tour
Another incredible day on Faxaflói, with sunshine, almost no wind, and calm seas. Conditions honestly couldn’t have been better. Not long after leaving Reykjavík harbour, we spotted two humpback whales in the area. At first very calm and gave us plenty of time to watch them surface and dive, later however we saw couple of tail spins that left everyone in awe!
On top of that, seals were everywhere today, popping up around the boat. With the sunrise reflecting off the flat ocean, the whole morning felt peaceful and beautiful.
Afternoon Tour
The afternoon started with our uncommon visitor – the common dolphin! This species is rarely seen in Iceland and this particular individual, just on it’s own, was swimming right behind the harbour wall. The two humpback whales were still around, this time surrounded by dozens of birds, were actively looking for fish, changing their positions all the time. In the end we even saw their beautiful white pec!
Seals, humpback whales, dolphins, and incredible weather made for a truly exceptional day on the sea.
