Whale Watching Daily Diary – February 18th 2026
Morning Whale Watching Tour
The day started in real winter mode. Proper cold. There was even a light dusting of snow in the morning, just enough to turn everything quiet and soft. The sea was calm, grey and still, with that pale winter light slowly growing over the horizon.
Not long after we left the harbor, we found our usual two humpbacks in the area. They were moving steadily, calm and focused. Every exhale looked almost frozen against the sky. Northern gannets were circling and diving around them as well.
Afternoon Whale Watching Tour
In the afternoon, still freezing, maybe even colder, but the whales decided to come in close. Very, very close. At one point, one of the humpbacks surfaced right next to the boat. So near you could hear the breath clearly and see the details on its skin. No one really spoke. You could feel that mix of excitement and respect all at once.
Cold hands, red cheeks, a bit of snow in the morning, and two humpbacks that gave us one of those days you don’t forget anytime soon. Unforgettable day!
