Whale Watching Daily Diary – February 24th 2026
Morning Whale Watching Tour
We headed out in true Icelandic weather: windy, rainy, and foggy.
Unfortunately, the whales decided to stay hidden today. While it’s always a little disappointing not to spot them, that’s the nature of working with wild animals; every tour is different, and that’s part of the experience.
We made our way through the same areas where we had spotted whales in the past few days, carefully scanning the water for any signs of movement. Every patch of darker sea and every distant splash caught our attention, but despite covering the familiar hotspots, the whales were nowhere to be seen.
We’ll be back out there soon, ready to try again.
Afternoon Whale Watching Tour
In the afternoon, we attempted to head back out for another search, hoping conditions might have improved. However, the wind had picked up even more, and the swell had built up in the bay. After giving it careful consideration, we made the decision to turn back and return to the harbour. Safety always comes first, and sometimes the ocean reminds us that it’s in charge.
