Whale Watching Daily Diary – January 17th 2026

Whale Watching in Reykjavik. Whale tail breaching the water.

Today was brutally windy out of Reykjavík, the kind of wind that cuts through everything and makes you forcing you to lean into life just to stay upright. Still, the sea stayed calm enough to let us sail in relative comfort, despite the massive wind.

Two humpback whales surfaced right there in the chaos, like the conditions didn’t matter at all. One even threw its tail against the water, sending up a massive splash, and we were lucky to witness it.

Days like this remind you that nature doesn’t need perfect conditions to be unforgettable.
