Whale Watching Daily Diary – January 21st 2026

When we arrived tothe harbour today the weather was beautiful but by the time we went out on the boats the wind had whipped itself up. The ocean stayed pretty calm despite this and the skies were pretty clear and blue so the mountains were very beautiful all around us.

We had not been looking for long when we saw the first blow in between the islands. After heading over to investigate we found not one but two humpback whales. They surfaced multiple times before one of them did a huge tail lob right in front of us, it was very impressive!

After watching them for sometime we left them alone and carried on exploring, and watching the many seals – both common and grey – that had come over to watch us! We briefly saw some harbour porpoises before we headed back into land and out ofthe wind.
