Whale Watching Daily Diary – January 23rd 2026

It was really blowing today as we headed out to look for whales, but thankfully, the mountains sheltered us from the worst of it.

We first headed to the place we had seen them yesterday but there were no whales to be seen, so we kept on scouting in between all the islands looking for any sign of whales, be it a bow or a fin or just diving birds.

Eventually we found them right underneath the beautiful mountain of Esjan, two humpback whales swimming and feeding together all around our boat.

They gave us some beautiful tail dives up close, both towards us and away from us, so we could see their unique markings.

All in all it was a blowy but wonderful day on the waters of Faxafloi!
