Whale Watching Daily Diary – January 29th 2026

Humpback whale back as it dives

After a blustery few days, it was such a relief to have a day like this out on the water. We searched for whales and gazed out at the stunning scenery without the wind biting us!

We headed out, scouting around and between the islands Faxafloi bay until we saw a great blow shooting up from the surface of the water. Whilst we were watching it, another blow shot up right next to it. Two whales! And big ones, judging by the size of the blows! Given what we had been seeing lately and the shape and size of the blows, we knew that they would be humpback whales. Wonderful.

They swam all around us, diving and surfacing, showing their fins and tails. It was wonderful to see. Sometimes they appeared very close to us and other times further away, but every time it was a joy to see them, and we were delighted to show these incredible animals to our customers.
