Whale Watching Daily Diary – January 31th 2026

Today we headed out into Faxaflói Bay from Reykjavík on the last day of January, and it turned into a truly special tour. The weather couldn’t have been better: sunny skies, calm waters, and great visibility. Before long, we spotted two humpback whales, moving through the bay, along with lots of seals resting and swimming nearby.

After seeing the whales, we reached the entrance of Hvalfjörður, surrounded by dramatic scenery and quiet water.

The highlight of the tour was a rare surprise: one common dolphin, which is an unusual sight in Icelandic waters. Around us, plenty of seabirds filled the air, diving and circling as we continued the journey. Every moment felt unhurried and natural, like the ocean was showing off a little.

With the sun shining and the sea so calm, it was an incredible tour from start to finish, simple, beautiful, and unforgettable.
