Morning Whale Watching Tour

This morning we set sail straight west, towards the open bay – the wind was moderate and there was some swelling on the sea, but no major splashes. Visibility was quite good, but it took us quite a long time to spot the first signs of a whale in the area. Fortunately, we succeeded! A blow about 800 meters away. After approaching, it turned out to be our friend, Banana the humpback, whom we had seen for many months right next to the port. Due to the large schools of capelin that had recently appeared in the southwestern part of our bay, most of the whales had moved away from the shallow breakwaters. Our whale was swimming alone today, relaxed, and we managed to see its beautiful tail several times, which allowed us to confirm its identity.

Afternoon Whale Watching Tour

In the afternoon, we took on the challenge of meeting Banana once again. On the way there, we experienced all possible weather conditions – from the sun shining directly in our faces to a snowstorm. We spent a little over 1.5 hours searching, venturing even further than in the morning – unfortunately to no avail. However, the way back reminded us that it is not worth giving up hope until the very last moment of the trip – blow! We spent time in the company of a beautiful humpback, which this time did not feel like showing us its tail, but there is a good chance that it was Banana again! It swam really close to us several times to make it easier for us to understand how big this animal was. We arrived at the port a little later than planned, but we hope it was worth it!
