Whale Watching Daily Diary – May 28th 2026
Morning tour
Rainy and overcast conditions greeted us in the harbour this morning. The sea was relatively calm, giving us hope for easy whale spotting. As usual lately, puffins and other seabirds accompanied us along the way. Suddenly and quite unexpectedly, the first mammal appeared. A humpback whale in all its glory, showing us its tail, with a very regular shape and pattern. We had the opportunity not only to see this beautiful whale, but also to hear it… and smell it. We spent a moment with this humpback and tried to look for another species, but for today, we had to be satisfied with the show this one humpback whale gave us.
Afternoon tour
Weather conditions before the afternoon tour remained almost the same, with occasional drizzle. We had another chance to see a humpback whale, but a different one than the one seen during the morning tour. We went a bit further, searching for more cetaceans. On the way back to the harbour, the same humpback whale was waiting for us again, but this time it decided to swim closer to our boat. We could even see a shy pectoral slapping.
