Whale Watching Daily Diary – November 10th 2025

A really beautiful day with almost no wind and clear skies, it was wonderful to be out on the water.

Morning tour – We went through the islands, covering the areas we had seen whales lately but saw nothing except seabirds (which we love but aren´t what we are looking for specifically) for sometime, then we went into a small bay and saw a long dark shape in the water. We had found a humpback whale!

It was resting, taking its time at the surface but also below and its breath was shallower than normal, so we were approached it even slower than normal to ensure we didn´t disturb it. We were very lucky that a few times it surfaced within justa few metres of us and we could see its big white pectoral fins clearly through the water. Everyone got a really good opportunity to see it. We headed home for lunch with happy customers.

Afternoon tour – Shortly after setting sail we found a minke whale near the islands, it was large, so probably female, and it did great high arches as it dived. We watched it for a while before heading off to see what else we could find, we knew there was a humpback somewhere in the bay!

Not far from where we had left it in the morning an adult humpback was waiting for us. It was incredibly calm as it surfaced but it also treated us to several really high tail dives so we got to see its wonderful pattern.

Even in winter in Iceland we can have great weather, and great whales.

A spectacular day!
