Whale Watching Daily Diary – November 15th 2025
Another calm day in the bay, good weather conditions – good visibility, little wind, light drizzle.
Our whales settled in for good between the islands. About 15 minutes into the trip, north of Engey, we spotted three harbour porpoises, which surfaced only for a few moments before disappearing forever.
Fortunately, closer to Viðey, we saw a large blow from a humpback, so we headed in that direction, admiring the much larger and slower species of whale. As in previous days, the adult humpback was in energy-saving mode – it spent a lot of time at the surface, taking in air from time to time, and we managed to capture a few beautiful tails and see pectoral fins through the water!
Finally, there was a little more action, because less than a mile from the harbour gate we encountered a minke whale – an adult, as usual fast and elusive. We spent a few minutes with it and then headed for the harbour.
