Whale Watching Daily Diary – November 18th 2025
It was bright and clear today, a beautiful day to be on the water!
It didn’t take us long to find the three humpback whales we saw yesterday again. We knew they were the same ones as we could see the same tail markings and dorsal fins. But however often we see the same whales we are thrilled. We love seeing them thriving, and returning to the waters here in Iceland year after year.
Shortly after that we saw the speedy fin of a minke whale, followed by a pod of white beaked dolphins. They are always so curious about the boats and always a favourite of anyone who sees them. It was really a wonderful trip.
The skies remained clear and bright for the afternoon trip, and this time as well as finding humpback whales we also found porpoises and harbour seals! We know seals aren’t whales but they have to be one of the cutest marine mammals the way they poke their heads out of the water at us and stare at us with their huge dark eyes. We also got a fleeting glimpse of a minke whale on the way home too!
Todays tours show how we can never guess what we will see on a tour, as the afternoon tour can be totally different from the morning one. Either way both tours were excellent!
