Whale Watching Daily Diary – November 25th 2025

We left the harbour this morning in an absolute downpour, but it cleared up really fast and we were left with water almost as smooth as glass as we went out to find our whales. It was cold, but thank fully there was almost no wind so it was still pleasant to be outside.

In between the islands we came across a pair of humpback whales, one very large, the other much smaller. Normally humpback whale calves leave their mother after about a year, and begin their own migration to warmer waters. Perhaps this one is a late calf or an adolescent that doesn´t have the drive or the fat reserves to make the great migration south.

Normally it would be too cold this time of year for a young one, but the water temperature today was almost 8degrees C – about 3 degrees warmer than normal.

Either way it was wonderful to see these great whales blow and they surfaced again and again around us, showing their beautiful tails many times.

The afternoon tour had the same calm weather as we set off to find the whales after lunch and once again we found the wonderful humpback whales 🙂
