Whale Watching Daily Diary – October 14th 2025
As soon as we left the harbour we were surprised by a large minke whale dashing around in front of us. We stayed to watch it before heading out into deeper water. In the main feeding ground we were unlucky, nothing to see, but we carried on and found not one but two humpback whales in front of whalefjord! We watched them for a while then they came really close into the boat, it was such a joy to see. Quite calm seas and a little fog early on that cleared nicely.
After lunch the same large minke was waiting for us in the islands, and circled the boat very boldly for quite some time giving us a great chance to see its subtle patterns. Then we headed out and found two humpback whales – different ones from the morning. They repeatedly surfaced within just a few metres of the boat 🙂 we also had diving gannets, fulmars, a cormorant, murres, and many eider ducks.
A wonderful day even if it got a bit drizzly at the end!
