Whale Watching Daily Diary – October 15th 2025
Another overcast day but with excellent whales, we went out on Amelia Rose and we had two humpbacks right by the harbor entrance that continually surfaced very close to the ship, a couple of times right under the bow! We saw a couple of minke whales zooming about in the distance but as the humpbacks were so awesome we stayed with them for quite some time before going to visit a minke whale near Engey. It also came incredibly close to Amelia Rose, and we could see by the sheer size of it that it was a large female. We went around the islands and came across a pod of hunting porpoises and another minke.
The afternoon tour had a little swell but we found the same humpback and two different minkes all in the same area, and we also saw diving gannets and harbour porpoises over towards Lundey. An excellent day out on Amelia Rose!
