Whale Watching Daily Diary – October 17th 2025

We couldn’t have asked for better weather conditions in the middle of October – calm seas, almost no wind, and just a light drizzle every now and then.

Some of the minke whales are still right by the harbour, so we spent a bit of time with one of them. Later, we headed out to find two very relaxed humpback whales that we’ve been seeing over the past few days between Engey and Viðey islands.

In the afternoon, we managed to spot all four of the main species found in our bay! First, an adult minke whale; later, a pod of 4–6 harbour porpoises. A bit further ahead, we once again greeted the pair of humpbacks, and finished the tour with a playful pod of white-beaked dolphins – to the delight of both passengers and crew, as it’s been a while since we last saw them. What a day!
