Daily Diary – June 11th 2023
Daily diary of whale watching from Reykjavik Old Harbour, on the yacht Amelia Rose, on June 11th 2023 – written by Lucky.
The weather today was overcast and there was a slight swell but it was still beautiful in a “there should be a dragon flying overhead ” sort of way. Once we had left the harbor and made our way through the islands we headed towards the whale feeding grounds on the hunt for humpback whales.
Before too long a large pod of white-beaked dolphins came and started to play with us, they were bow riding and leaping everywhere it was really wonderful to see!
Later on we found the humpbacks feeding which is glorious to see, one came quite close to the boat, a couple more were a little further away and then we could see spouts of more in the distance so this really is the season to see humpbacks!
Here are some of the animals we saw today.
WHite-beaked dolphins
Puffins
Fulmars
Arctic terns
Kittiwakes
