Whale Watching Daily Diary – March 2nd 2026

Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; hump back whale arching its back as it dives sunlight glinting off it

Morning Whale Watching Tour

Gosh what a windy day but it was beautiful with snow covered mountains and seagulls wheeling around in the winter sunshine. We first headed out around the islands checking out the areas we had seen marine life recently. At first we had no luck but then we turned a corner and right there between the islands we saw a huge blow! It was a humpback whale! Exactly what we had been hoping for as we went out whale watching 🙂 everyone was super happy to see this amazing creature swimming around us and showing us its fins.

Afternoon Whale Watching Tour

In the arfternoon we set off again with a forecast that the wind was going to drop so we were hopefully for calmer seas too. It was still very windy but we didn´t mind so much as we once again found the humpback whale and it came so close up to us! It was so curious, and a delight to see. We also saw some guillemots which made us think about members of the auk family….soon it will be puffin season and we cannot wait!

A blowy but spectacular day 🙂
