Reykjavik Iceland, whale watching Tour photo; Humpback whale back as it dives

Morning Whale Watching Tour

It was super snowy on our wayto work but it had cleared by the time we left Reykjavik Harbour to go whale watching in Faxa bay. We had big waves but they were long so we went up and then gently down – no seasickness here! The waves can make it trickier to see whales – but we were super lucky and saw a blow right away. It was a humpback whale! It hung around us for ages, and frequently dived showing us its tail and therefore its ID – it was our friend Banana! We also saw a grey seal and a couple of harbour seals on this tour, judging us with their big brown eyes, so cute!

Afternoon Whale Watching Tour

Having found a whale so easily this morning, we were confident we would find one fast this afternoon…but nature likes to tease us and we had to search for an hour before we found a whale again! It was the same humpback whale that we saw this morning, being very relaxed which is what we like to see. Once again we found seals – just the harbour ones this time but we were delighted with them.
