Daily diary – November 27 2024
With some westerly winds, we sailed around the islands outside of Reykjavik, in hope of finding the humpback whale from yesterday. With not much luck, we could still find a few harbour porpoises and harbour seals swimming around. After what felt like a long time, we could finally see the blows from the humpback whale! It kept swimming for long dives and popping up far away, but soon enough appeared right next to the boat!
The grey clouds had settled over us and there was a little bit more swell coming in from out-at-sea. We sailed around the islands again, but the humpback whale was no where to be seen. Again we saw a few harbour seals swimming around, but that was all we could find. We ventured a little bit further from the islands and finally found the blow from the humpback whale! It was diving for 8-10 minutes each time, but everyone could appreciate how small this individual was!
