Daily diary – November 30 2024
This morning was the last 9:15 AM tour before a break until December. From now on, we’ll only have one tour per day due to the long winter nights. We’ll run only the 1:15 PM tour until end of January. We set off in the twilight in search of whales and spent a good hour before finding one. Then, one of our passengers suddenly shouted: they had spotted a humpback whale near the boat. It stayed very close all morning, which was an absolute delight. We saw its tail several times.
In the afternoon, we returned to the same spot, and the same whale was still there, swimming around the boat. It was perfect since we were between two islands, sheltered from the wind.
On the way back, the conditions became rougher with waves and strong winds. However, this didn’t affect our tour, and we were able to enjoy the whale all day without being disturbed by the choppy seas.
It’s such a joy to have this humpback whale with us. I hope it stays in the area to accompany us through the coming winter months.
