Whale Watching Daily Diary –12th June 2026

Morning Tour

What a day to be out on Faxaflói Bay! Despite strong winds and choppy seas, the sunshine stayed with us throughout the tour, making it feel like one of the warmest summer days we’ve had so far.

The wildlife certainly didn’t disappoint. Early in the tour, we encountered a humpback whale that gave us an incredible show. Several powerful tail dives revealed its beautiful fluke, and we were lucky enough to witness spectacular surface behaviour, including breaches and energetic pectoral fin slaps.

Afternoon Tour

The afternoon brought more sunshine and equally exciting encounters. The sea remained rough with short waves rolling across the bay, but the conditions didn’t stop the whales from putting on a performance.

We re-encountered a humpback whale that seemed particularly active, treating us to impressive displays above the surface and several beautiful fluke-up dives. One of the highlights of the trip was a sociable group of harbour porpoises that stayed around the boat for an extended period, allowing everyone to appreciate these often elusive cetaceans.

A challenging but rewarding day on the water, filled with sunshine, whale activity, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
